Who
are Feeder?
Grant Nicholas - guitar, vocals (Welsh) (12/11/68)
Jon Henry Lee - drums (Welsh) (28/3/68 - 07/01/02)
Taka Hirose - bass, backing vocals live (Japanese) (28/7/67)
Mark Richardson - drums (English) (28/5/70)
After Jon's tragic death, Mark played on "Comfort In Sound"
and the Carling Festival gigs, after being a longtime friend of
the band (he was in b.l.o.w and Skunk Anansie both of whom Feeder
supported). He has since become an official member of the band.
Has
anyone else been in Feeder?
During the tour promoting "Yesterday
Went Too Soon", Feeder were joined by Dean Tidey, a (left-handed)
guitarist from the band "Sandstone Veterans" and formerly
"Velvet Jones". Dean also reappeared for the Carling
Festival shows in 2002 and has been their touring guitarist ever
since!
.
During the tour promoting "Echo Park", Feeder were joined
by Matt Sime (2/12/??) - who has engineered a number of the albums
- to play keyboard/synth. Matt also reappeared for the Carling
Festival shows in 2002. He is also the voice at the beginning
of Echo Park.
For the tour of Australia in 2000, Jon was temporarily replaced
by Mark Bullock (ex Cay drummer) whilst he was getting married.
Mark also returned for the TOTP performance of Just A Day in late
2001.
Does
xxx have a girlfriend / wife?
As far as I'm concerned, the bands private
lives should be kept private so I won't go into many details here
.....
- Grant has a long term girlfriend and a child
- Taka is married with two children
- Don't know about Mark, but he does have a child
What
about Jon Lee?
On Monday
7th January 2002, Jon Lee took his own life at his home in Miami.
A public funeral was held on the 18th, with around 700 turning
up. A public message from his wife is available here.
What
equipment do they use?
There's a comprehensive list on Feederweb
under the "Gear" section.
When
are they doing a tour?
Tour information is available on Feederweb.
I've seen them 32 times to date and I've never been disappointed
- they're brilliant live!
Where
can I get more information on the band?
There are many fansite on the Internet.
A list of them with addresses can be found on this site here
or on Feederweb.
Most fansites have links, where you might find other links.
Can
I contact the band?
They used to have addresses to which
they responded (e.g. grant@feederweb.com) but do not anymore due
to the volume of messages. Feeder do usually do a large amount
of interviews and publicity and there have been a number of webchats
where fans have provided questions so far. To ask Feeder questions,
click on the contact button on Feederweb
or e-mail info@feederweb.com.
Do
Feeder have a record deal in America?
Feeder have had record deals in the past
in America (with Elektra), but their last deal, with Universal,
expired after Comfort In Sound so at the moment, they don't have
a deal in US. This probably explains why Pushing The Senses has
yet to be released there and why there are no current plans for
a US Tour.
Did
Feeder have any other names before Feeder?
Yes, before they settled on Feeder, they
went through "Hum", "Real" and "Reel".
What
other bands have the members been in?
Grant has been in many bands, such as
"Multi-Story", "Raindancer", "Temper
Temper", "Shringking Violets" and "Velveteen",
with only the former actually releasing an album called "Through
Your Eyes". Grant said he needed the money! heh.
Have
Feeder won any awards?
They have won the following :
- 2001 Kerrang Award for "Best British Live Act"

What
have the released?
Well, you've come to the right site!!!
Just check out the Releases section here.
How
much are all their releases worth?
Again, you're in the right place ...
estimated values are given for every single release (apart from
Compilations) on this site!
Are
there any imports that I can get?
Yes again, this is the place to be ...
just check out the Releases pages
for the Europe, USA, Japan, Australia and the Rest Of The Wortd.
Is
there a fish on every single release?
Supposedly yes ... but I've yet to find
them on some releases!
Who
did the artwork?
Swim
The sleeve concept was designed by Grant Nicholas with Design
& Realisation by Jeremy Plumb & Jacqui Edwards @ Sonicon.
Front & Back cover photographs were by Andrew Cameron and
the colour band photo was by Robert Wyatt. All of the black &
white photos were by Grant Nicholas.
Polythene

by Jeremy Plumb @ sonicon. Photography by Alan David. Studio shots
by Scarlet Page and Street shots by Dan McLewin.
When this album was re-issued, it had
extra still life photography by Andrew Cameron and Grant Nicholas
with the skydiver image coming from Getty images.
Yesterday Went Too Soon
Photography was done by Rick Guest and the concept and art direction
was by Intro, London. Intro later worked on the video for Just
The Way I'm Feeling. You can see their website at www.intro-uk.com.
Echo Park

Roy Wilkinson.
Comfort In Sound

Pushing The Senses
Paintings by Ryan Wallace. Art direction and design by Blue Source.
Band photo Lawrence Watson.
Have
they had an number 1s?
Only in South Africa and the United Arab
Emerites with "Seven Days In The Sun", but unfortunately
not much is known about these.
What
chart positions have they achieved?
For an excellent run down of Feeder's
chart history to date, check out this
page.
When
will they release a live DVD?
No definite plans for this at the moment
... it's been heavily rumoured for years!
When
will they release a DVD with all their videos on?
Again, no definite plans for this at
the moment ... Echo know the demand is there!
Who's
the girl on the cover of the Yesterday Went Too Soon album?
Well, I don't know here name, but here's what Grant and Taka
had to say about it in a webchat around the time of Buck Rogers
:
Taka: She was a friend of someone working for
the art company.
Grant: The art company did Yesteday Went to Soon campaign.
She was the cousin of the secretary and she had a very unusual
personality which is why she was picked.
Grant: Because that photo shoot was like making a film.
Very intense.

Have
they made any b-sides?
Yes, loads ... check out the Songs
page.
Have
they done any cover versions?
These so far ...
- "Can't Stand Losing You" (orignally by The
Police) which can be found on Just
A Day CD1.
- "The Power Of Love" (originally by Frankie
Goes To Hollywood) for NME's War Child album, '1
LOVE'.
- "Everybody Hurts" (originally by REM) for
Warchild which was available as a download only from Warchild's
website.
- "So Lonely" (originally by The Police) which
was performed acoustically on Dermot O'Leary's Radio 2 show
in April 2005.
Grant also featured with Ian Dury's backing band The Blockheads"
as a vocalist on the song "Blockheads" on the Ian Dury
tribute album called Brand
New Boots And Panties
In a webchat, Grant answered a question about covering Monkey
Wrench... "No, it's a song called 'Everlong'. We do occasionally
soundcheck cover versions. But I think you're talking about 'Everlong',
it's always a good song to play in soundchecks. Apparantly Dave
Grohl soundchecks 'My Perfect Day' now! I'll probably leave playing
it live to the Foo Fighters, although you never know, one day
we might."
Have
they done any exclusive / acoustic versions for radio?
Yes, quite a few ... they've done versions
of Buck Rogers, Piece By Piece, Child In Your, Feeling A Moment,
The Power Of Love, Come Back Around to name abut a few acoustically
on radio. They also done a few radio sessions as a live band.
Have
they done any instrumental versions?
Yes, instrumental versions of Chicken
On A Bone, Tangerine and Shade appeared on the computer game Gran
Turismo, although these have yet to see a proper release on CD.
A completely instrumental version of
the Comfort
In Sound album, with an instrumental version of Bullet as
a bonus track was issued to TV & Radio.
Who
writes the songs?
Grant writes all the songs.
Contrary to popular belief / misunderstanding
... Gordon Matthew Sumner didn't write track 5 on "Comfort
In Sound" ... he is otherwise known as Sting and did indeed
write "Can't Stand Losing You", which features on the
bonus DVD with this album!
Who
produced the songs?
Have a look at individual credits - they're
too numerous to mention! But generally...Swim and Polythene were
produced by Chris Sheldon, YWTS by Feeder, Echo Park by Gil Norton
and Feeder, Comfort In Sound and Pushing The Senses by Grant Nicholas
and Gil Norton.
Matt Sime has recorded/engineered/mixed
a lot lot of the material, which along with his live input makes
him a key member of Feeder. Andy Wallace, Adrian Rushby, and Steve
Power amongst other have all been involved. Grant and Jon were
also studio engineers, so have had a large input (Taka used to
make basses, so his basses are custom made). It's believed that
Grant always asks for distortion on his voice as he doesn't like
it, but I think Matt Sime has more sense, because it's very rarely
left in!
Where
can I find song lyrics?

but surely being made available for LEGAL download on various
sites. Check out the download song list

stealing from the band!

What
films have they featured in?
"High" was used on the "Can't
Hardly Wait" soundtrack. "Buck Rogers" was featured
on the "Behind Enemy Lines" soundtrack. "Come Back
Around" was featured on the "American Wedding"
soundtrack. Feeder's music has been used extensively on TV soundtracks,
in particular Channel 4's "Teachers".
Wasn't
"Come Back Around" a b-side on the Turn single?
Yes. There are two songs named "Come
Back Around" - the first coming from a Turn bside, the second
being the first single from "Comfort In Sound". Although
they have the same name, they are completely different songs!
What's
this song "Nurofen"?
The song "Under The Weather"
was originally entitled "Nurofen" but the name had to
be changed for copyright reasons!
What's
this song "Circles" on this set list?
The song on this
set list, called "Circles" is not the same as the Find
The Colour b-side ... it is in fact the original title for the
song "Can't Dance To Disco".
What
are these songs "Why" and "Vanilla" on this
set list?
I can only guess that these are early
songs which either had their names changed or have so far, not
made it onto a Feeder record!
Where
can I hear "Blemish"?
Ahh, the long fabled track called "Blemish"!
The simple answer is that at the moment, it's un-released.Tthere
are apparently two versions, with different takes on the chorus.
What's
this song "Teddy Bear" ?
"Teddy Bear" was the provisional
and perhaps a little jokey title for "Spill".
Have
they got any other unreleased tracks?
There are rumours about quite a few ...
let's hope they see the light of day soon!
What's
the story behind there being two videos for "Piece By Piece"?
"Piece By Piece" was a single
in Europe only (excluding the UK). For it, London Guildhall students
made an animated video. The video contained an animated Feeder
performing in a New York skyscraper. However, as the video contained
images of aeroplanes flying amongst the buildings, and Feeder
jumping out of the skyscraper, it was obviously deemed inappropriate.
This video was featured on the single, but an amended version
(containing clips from the promo video for Suffocate) appeared
on the Just A Day single.
Who
are the people in the "Just A Day" video?
They're fans ... Some of them post on
the messageboards, most don't!
Is
it really Fran and Dougie doing backing vocals on "Tumble
And Fall"?
Simple answer is yes!
What's
this song "Scream" that I found on the internet?
This isn't actually Feeder, but a band
called "Scream" performing a song called "Feeder".
What's
this "Mouthful of Pennies / Feeder / Toenut" ?
Again, this isn't actually Feeder, but
a band called "Toenut" performing a song called "Feeder".
For artwork, click here.
What
are these songs "Spring" and "Criminal" by
Feeder?
Again, this isn't actually Feeder, but
another band called "Feeder", from America I think.
For artwork, click here.

Are
there any messageboards for Feeder?
You can find the official Feeder messageboard
via the links at Feederweb.
But there is also a board here.
Quite a few fansites also have thriving
boards.
Are
there any rules on these boards?
Not really, but if you're new, here are a few pieces of advice:
- Don't post loads and loads of new topics.
- Because of the Feeder board lots of people have made friends
which is good but the topic veers off course. Try not to barge
in too much - you will be accepted!
- Use smilies if you're making a joke :)
- Please try and use full sentences - it makes it easier to
understand things, and therefore there'll be less misunderstandings
and you won't become unpopular. Avoid netslang (c, u, 2, l8r
etc.)
- There are users who are moderators who have certain powers.
Are
there any other fansites for Feeder?
A nice big list can be found on Feederweb.
Log in, go to "Feeder Central", then "Your Contributions"
and finally "Fan sites". You can also see the Links
page on this site.
Does
Feeder have a Street Team?
Yes, it's organised through another messageboard,
although you have to sign up to be able to read it! Check it out
here.
Where
can I buy Feeder merchandise?
There is a very extensive Feeder shop
on Feederweb.
Where
can I buy Feeder posters?
Try these sites Push
Posters or One
Poster.
Where
can I get/buy Feeder ringtones?
I don't have a Feeder ringtone so I'm no expert , but try these
:
Bolt Blue
Ring
Tones 4 All

Any additions very welcome!
